Our Carers Week 2017 Information Event

the official Carers Week logoCarers Week, an annual campaign to celebrate carers and raise awareness of the challenges that comes with the caring role, is fast approaching. Slated for the week of 12-18 June, this year’s theme – “Building Carer Friendly Communities” – focuses on developing communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.

This year, Lifted will be holding an information event at Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre in Wythenshawe, for the benefit of carers in Manchester. There will be free refreshments, light breakfast and lunch during the day, as well as a raffle with fantastic prizes to be won.

We have invited various groups and organisations supporting the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) community in Manchester so it would also be a perfect opportunity for carers to learn more about help and support that’s available out there. The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Eddy Newman, will be joining us on the day to give a speech. Some of the stall-holders in the event include: Contact a Family, Citizens Advice Bureau, IAS Manchester, Manchester Real Neighbours, Dyslexia Awareness.
